MKULTRA was conceived as a way to free musicians from constraints and foster their creativity with the assistance of chemical enhancements. All of the tracks were improvised freely and with no preconceived notion other than to surrender to the impulse to create in the moment. Ryan Richard and Erol Ulug moved from instrument to instrument at will as they recorded what ended up being a trip through the nooks and crannies of their minds.

The result was a daunting mass of recorded material that pushed toward four hours in length. What you hear is select electric guitar, electric bass, synthesizer, amp feedback, tape manipulation, and effects from that session. The original improvisations were engineered, further arranged, mixed, and mastered in the months that followed by both contributors. Everything you hear was recorded live in a single 12-hour period.
